    Yankees Chasing Berkman
By Ronald Blum, AP Sports Writer
    7/31/2010

NEW YORK (AP) Lance Berkman is headed to the New York Yankees, who plan to complete a deal to acquire the former All-Star from the Houston Astros on Saturday, a day after the World Series champions obtained outfielder Austin Kearns from the Cleveland Indians.

New York will send a couple of prospects to the Astros, likely to be reliever Mark Melancon and infielder Jimmy Paredes, and Houston will pay part of what Berkman is owed, a baseball executive familiar with the discussions said Friday night. The executive spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.

Berkman didn't play Friday night against Milwaukee, and his Astros teammates said their goodbyes.

"Nothing's been completed," Berkman said before the ...

    Nationals Pound Roy Oswalt
    By The Associated Press
    7/30/2010

WASHINGTON (AP) Roy Oswalt's first game as a Philadelphia Phillie left ample room for improvement.
Craig Stammen carried a shutout into the seventh inning and the Washington Nationals roughed up Oswalt in his Philadelphia debut, halting the Phillies' eight-game winning streak with an 8-1 victory.

"I came out amped up, held the ball a little tight," said Oswalt, who absorbed his major league-leading 13th defeat. "Didn't really start feeling better until the last two innings. Didn't really go my way."

Oswalt (6-13), a former 20-game winner acquired from Houston in a four-player trade Thursday, allowed five runs - four earned - and seven hits in six innings. He walked two, struck out four and hit two batters.

Today's Pick from Razor Sharp Sports:
    7/31/2010

The football season kicks off their pre-season in about a week. Here is your chance to build up your bankroll! Every day the Razor Sharp Presidential Club has the top play of the day. We are currently on a 9-1 run the last 10 days, heading into Friday night! It is the RAZOR SHARP PRESIDENTIAL CLUB LOCK OF THE YEAR for Saturday! We are so sure that we are going to cash in, that we are going to guarantee it. Join the winning now and if we don't win the lock, we will email you our Sunday Full Package. FREE WINNER - As a Free Winner for Saturday take the Texas/LA Angels game OVER the total. The Rangers are 3rd overall in the Majors in batting average and 4th in runs scored. The Angels production has been down a bit this year, but are still 11th in the Majors in runs scored. Combine these bats with two shaky pitchers and I expect a higher scoring contest. For the Rangers, 5-9 Scott Feldman goes to the mound with a 5.46 ERA. He hasn't picked up a win since June 18th. Since then he is 0-3 in 6 starts with a 6.17 ERA. For the Angels it is newly acquired Dan Haren. For the season, Haren is just 7-9 with a ERA of 4.57. Like Feldman, it has been a real dry spell for Haren since his last win. His last win came back on June 12th. Since then he has made 8 starts with a 0-5 record and a ERA of 4.50. Look for more runs. FREE WINNER for SATURDAY: Take the RANGERS/ANGELS OVER the TOTAL RUNS.
